Pincher Creek is the wind energy capital of Canada. Pincher Creek enjoys the warm Chinook winds that compress and warm as they rush down the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains. This wind regime has been mapped to record areas where wind-plants can be most economically sited.

This non-polluting source of renewable energy is fed into the provincial electrical grid that powers Southern Alberta industries and residences. There are over 100 turbines within view of Pincher Creek. Canadian Hydro and Vision Quest are two Alberta-based wind power firms that make Pincher Creek home to their windplants. There are currently nine wind power project located in souther Alberta.

Calgary's public transit system purchases this green energy for the C-Trains that speed transit riders across the city. Enmax, a major electrical utility company also purchases green power, as do towns and municipalities that are supplied by the Alberta grid.
