Celebrating Father’s Day this Sunday – Realtors talk about their dads

On Sunday we celebrate Father’s Day to honour all the fathers and grandfathers that have made a difference in our lives.

Search on Google for quotes about fathers and fatherhood and you come up with a multitude of thoughts.

Here are a couple to ponder as we look forward to Sunday.

“I would say my greatest achievement in life right now – my greatest achievement period is – and I’m still trying to achieve it – is to be a wonderful father to my kids.” Bo Jackson

“The more people have studied different methods of bringing up children the more they have come to the conclusion that what good mothers and fathers instinctively feel like doing for their babies is the best after all.” Benjamin Spock

As Father’s Day approaches, we searched out some comments from a few of the realtors on the RE/MAX Real Estate (Central) team. Here’s what they had to say about their fathers and what they learned from them:

Vince Oliverio (on his father John)

Don’t stress. “Wake up, shut up and bust your ass at work.” Everything else will fall into place. You live once, be happy and have fun.

Sano Stante (on his father Adelmo)

My father Adelmo always demonstrated a high moral and ethical compass, an obsession for fairness and an unwavering commitment to help family and friends. He was a lifelong learner and attended SAIT when he immigrated from Italy to learn new skills. Thereafter, he assisted many fellow immigrants who had difficulty with English with their immigration, often taking time from work to do so. I am often reminded by my friends of my father’s kitchen table debates, where he would engage us youngsters in spirited debates on world issues, late into the night. We couldn’t have imagined a more ideal father than was demonstrated by our Dad and my children’s Nono.

Nick Profeta (on his father Guido)

He is 80 years old. My Dad taught me that if you work hard and are nice to everyone good things will come.  He is not a man of many words, but his actions and work ethic remind me every day to be better and live a good life. Happy Father’s Day to My Dad, Guido Profeta and all the Father’s everywhere !!

Gemma Festa (on her father Battista)

My dad Battista Barberio was a small guy with a big heart. He was a wonderful father to me and special grandfather to my three boys. He loved to nibble on my boys hands when they were little and smother them with hugs and kisses, making it a long process to say goodbye some days.

He loved his homemade vino, and sausages, my mom’s soft bread and her lasagna and sharing them with whoever was in his home or near by. His notorious sayings were: “Eat more and talk less! Mind your own business and you’ll live to be a hundred years old! Who’s your daddy? NObody home!”

His traditional saying was “NO Bad, NO Bad “, when asked how’s it going with his trademark of holding up his hand in an OK gesture. I miss you Dad and wish you a Happy Father’s Day. I smile often when I think of you, you truly were one of a kind !

Tanya Eklund (on her father Dale)

My father has been such a huge part of my life. He taught me how a man should treat his wife which helped me in finding my husband and he set the standards high. He taught me the importance of forgiveness and loving others. My dad always listens and even as an adult is always on my side. I love dad and am truly blessed I was raised with a father like mine.
